Travel Tips

Rome has two airports – “Leonardo da Vinci” Fiumicino (FCO) and “Giovan Battista Pastine” Ciampino (CIA). Both are about 30 minutes outside the city by car.

TAXI

There is a set rate of €55 from Fiumicino and €31 from Ciampino to the city center. Please only take official taxis at the designated airport taxi stand and do not ride with people offering taxi services to you inside the airport – they are unofficial and unlicensed scammers.

FIUMICINO EXPRESS TRAIN

The “Leonardo Express” takes 30 minutes to get to Termini, Rome’s main train station. It’s modern, direct, air-conditioned, and has frequent departures. It costs €14 one-way. You can then take the metro, a bus or taxi from the Termini train station to your hotel.

TRAVEL WITHIN ROME

Rome has two metro lines and many buses and trams. If you plan on visiting before or after the party, I would highly recommend getting a RomaPass, which also includes public transportation and tickets to 1-2 museums and archaeological sites, depending on whether you get it for 48 or 72 hours (note that you need to book the Colosseum and the Galleria Borghese in advance – both are absolutely worth it).

ACCOMODATIONS

Rome has a plethora of accommodation options in every price range. I would recommend using Booking.com or Airbnb to find your perfect place. The party will be held in the heart of the city center at Via del Corso 518.

TRAVEL OUTSIDE ROME

Travel within Italy is a breeze with trains to Venice, Bologna, Florence, Milan, Naples, and every small town in between. Look up and purchase tickets on Trenitalia.com, Italotreno.com, or directly at a train station. You can also find cheap flights to France (come see me in Paris!), Spain, Portugal, or any of those colder European countries.

Please note that if you take trains without assigned seats anywhere in Italy, your ticket must be validated on a machine that looks like this, even if you have a set departure time. Otherwise, you may face a steep fine.
